DESCRIPTION It has never been easy for lawyers advising private clients to keep up to speed with developments in capital taxation and estate planning. And with current HMRC attitudes to tax avoidance, it is often difficult to know precisely what is the best advice to give. An awareness and understanding of tax issues as they occur is essential to that process. For an example of this, consider the professional reaction to the Chancellor's Pre-Budget Statement on 9 October!
On 19 July 2005 Matthew Hutton began a periodic series on such developments. The next EPU presentation, the eighth in the series, is scheduled for 18 October. Based on his well-received quarterly Capital Tax Review (CTR), the presentation will cover legislative changes, developments in HMRC practice and planning points - all with specific practical application. Each Issue of CTR contains some 25 such points in the areas of Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax and Miscellaneous. Matthew will take a selection of just 7 of these for his presentation on 18 October, as he plans to devote 30 minutes of the presentation to the Pre-Budget Report. |
